Another example of letting science fiction nerds have too much input into your interdimensional explorations, this world at 0,+1,1 is inhabited by bipedal humanoids descended from feline stock, though they do not particularly resemble Larry Niven’s creations in any other meaningful way. The continents are crudely approximate to Core Earth’s. There is also a slightly higher average global temperature.

Due to the near-impossibility of “passing” as natives, exploration has been extremely limited. At least in the area near the portal, which corresponds roughly to where Poland would be on Core Earth, the technological level is late medieval, and society seems to be organized in a feudal manner. A handful of small automated probes, solar-powered and using non-magnetic storage media, have been placed in a few carefully chosen locations, and every few months, a team is sent in to retrieve the recordings and, if possible, set the devices somewhere else to improve total coverage. The intent is to get enough information to make a stab at decoding their language, but no one’s even had a chance to really look at the data yet; it’s one of the things expected to be worked on when the true nature of the Fringepaths is revealed and thousands of scientists can start poring over recovered information, not just the few hundred at Carpenter Station.
