The Chicken Coop
Located at 0,+1,5, this portal leads to a region of South America on an alternate Earth. Stellar patterns indicate it’s located about 100,000 BC. There are no signs of human habitation, but the area around the portal, for several dozen miles, consists of the outlines of ruined buildings and faded roadways, consistent with Tehrmelern architecture. Evidence suggests this was a ranching area, where animals, primarily various types of giant ground sloth based on bone patterns, were herded and fed. As with many other “resource worlds”, there’s ample reason to believe there was large scale industrial activity going on, but there’s no indication of how this was achieved. The gate itself is a Ring Station, not a portal, but it doesn’t seem to be connected to any of the major road networks.
The world got its name from the events of the third day of exploration, when the team was attacked by a large flock of Brontornis .While there were severe injuries, including some leading to amputation, there were fortunately no casualties. At this point, the Chicken Coop is marked for some degree of future exploration (after all, there’s an entire planet there and the team looked over a few square miles, at best), but it’s a low priority due to the apparent lack of surviving technology or any sapient civilization.
